Hydroseeding to strengthen slope at Ampang Look Out Point
JALAN
Ampang-Hulu Langat, which was closed since Thursday night due to a
landslide at the Ampang Look Out Point, has been re-opened on Saturday
night.
Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) corporate communications
head Shariman Mohd Nor said Public Works Department (PWD) had approved
the reopening of the road and would carry out works to strengthen the
slope.
“The PWD slope department will use hydroseeding (a
planting process that aids erosion control) and fibremat (used to
stabilise surfaces) to strengthen the slope. The cost will be borne by
PWD.
“PWD will also build a new drain in place of the one that gave way after the landslide.
“Remedial
work, which takes three to four days, is expected to start today,
depending on weather conditions as the process has to be carried out in
dry conditions.
“A part of the road will be closed to facilitate the work,” he added.
Shariman
said the council had removed all rocks, trees and soil on Friday. Three
open tipper trucks and 50 workers were mobilised by MPKj for cleaning
works.
“We did a spring cleaning on Saturday and washed the roads
using water jets. The mud cake was 5cm thick and it had to be manually
removed,” he said.
