ALL development projects in
Selangor must adhere to the prescribed guidelines before they can be
approved, said Mentri Besar Azmin Ali.
He added the local authorities must ensure conditions laid out in the Guidelines and Selangor State Planning Standards Manual are followed before approving any project.
“However, stakeholders are allowed to voice their disagreements,” Azmin said when asked to comment on protests against the construction of a 36-storey service apartment some 100m away from the SMKA Maahad Hamidiah in Sungai Ramal Luar, Kajang.
He said this at the International Conference of Malay Archipelago Scholars 2015 held at the International Islamic University College Selangor.
The manual was prepared by the state Town and Country Planning
Department and provides complete and comprehensive guidelines for the
administration and management of planning and development in Selangor.
SMKA Maahad Hamidiah PTA chairman Jazlan Ahmad claimed that the project did not adhere to the guidelines.
“By right, this type of project should be in a central zone, near transport terminals, higher education institutions and urban redevelopment areas,” Jazlan was quoted as saying.
When contacted, Kajang Municipal Council Public Relations head Kamarul Izlan Sulaiman said the council was still looking into the matter.
“The technical team is reviewing the matter and a report will be prepared soon,” he said.
