SEMENYIH: On the outside, he looked like a concerned man visiting sick inmates at Kajang Hospital.
Nobody would have guessed that he was actually passing drugs to them to be smuggled into the prison.
Police arrested the 27-year-old man outside a bank in Jalan Tun Abdul Aziz in Kajang at around 4.45pm on April 2, said Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Ab Rashid Ab Wahab.
“When we searched his motorcycle we found capsules hidden inside a soft drinks box containing 455.14gm of ganja.
“We arrested him and upon interrogation he told us how he would
pass the drugs to sick inmates to be smuggled into Kajang Prison,” he
told reporters at the helicopter crash site command centre here
yesterday.
The drugs are believed to be swallowed or stuffed in the anus of the smugglers to avoid detection by prison wardens.
“The drugs are worth about RM1,800 on the street, but double that in prison.
“The suspect had a record for theft, vehicle theft and possession of stolen property,” he said.
ACP Ab Rashid said a 35-year-old man was arrested the following day after police raided a hotel in Balakong at around 6.15am.
“He led us to his Hyundai Sonata car at the hotel car park.
“There was 916.23gm of syabu hidden in a compartment under the steering wheel of the car,” he said.
ACP Ab Rashid said further investigations revealed that the suspect was a drug pusher who was active in Kajang and the surrounding areas.
He said the men have been remanded for seven days to help with the investigations.
