KAJANG:
An 8 year-old boy fell to his death from a third floor corridor at the
Suria Court apartment in Bandar Mahkota, Cheras today.
In the incident, the deceased identified
as Damon Yen Zhi Yang who was feeling unwell, was at a home tuition
centre in the building before his tragic fall.
According to a parent who sends his
child to the same centre, the teacher had gone out to buy lunch for Yang
shortly before the incident.
"The teacher has been caring for him
since he was young. It was a routine for his mother to send him here.
The teacher was like family to him and they are very close.
"He was sleeping when the teacher went out and had covered him with a blanket," he said.
He also said that the teacher was
shocked when she returned home 10 minutes later to find the door to her
home wide open and a blanket near the door.
"The teacher saw the blanket near the door and the boy was seen in blood, holding a pad lock and a spare key," he added.
It was learnt that another three
children are also registered in the same home tuition centre but there
were in school at the time of the incident.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department
assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said they received a
distress call of the accident at about 12.42pm.
Meanwhile, Kajang police chief ACP Ab
Rashid Ab Wahab confirmed that the victim's mother known as Lim Lay Ling
had sent the boy to the teacher's home shortly before the incident.
He said investigations are ongoing while at the preliminary investigations stage the case has been classified as sudden death.
The body, which landed on the apartment lobby roof was sent to the Kajang hospital for post-mortem.
