Selangor
deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Abd Rahim Jaafar said the man is
expected to be brought to the Kajang Magistrate’s Court, where he would
face charges for murder and attempted murder today.
“He is still being held at the Kajang Hospital at the moment as he sustained injuries while trying to take his own life. He is being put on suicide watch to prevent him from further hurting himself,” he said yesterday.
He added that the two daughters, aged 10 and 12, who survived their father’s assaults, are in stable condition.
Last Thursday, a seven-year-old girl was found dead and her two sisters injured at their house in Bandar Baru Bangi.
The man’s 15-year-old daughter had returned home and saw her sisters injured while their father held a blood-stained parang in the living room.
He ran away while she called the police.
Police found the seven-year-old girl dead in a back room and they then tracked the 44-year-old father to a river at about 6.30pm.
In an unrelated case, DCP Abd Rahim said police are not ruling out the possibility that the RM10mil jewellery heist at a shopping mall in Bandar Utama may be an inside job.
He said initial investigations revealed it would be difficult for robbers with no experience or “help” to bypass the store’s alarm and motion sensor.
“Based on witnesses who saw the culprits paying for the parking ticket and other surveillance footage, we believe this heist was committed by a gang of Latinos.
“We are widening our search for the suspects,” he said, adding that police are still investigating the exact amount of jewellery stolen.
