A woman, who wished to
only be known as Rosie, 48, said the house near a popular shopping mall
in Cheras was rented by the suspect about six months ago.
“I’ve
lived here for more than seven years. I knew the family that stayed in
the house before the new tenant moved in. I was close to them but not
with the new occupant,” she said yesterday.
She said the man often came back late and had never initiated any conversation with her or her family members.
“He used to come back alone or sometimes with another person, usually
late at night,” she said, adding that she was shocked when police turned
up and nabbed two men and a woman who were in the house.
“I was watching television when I heard the loud police siren,” she said.
Rosie said she never suspected that criminal activities were going on at her neighbour’s house.
“If we had known, we would have reported it to the police,” she said.
Another neighbour, who wanted to be known as Tan, 56, described the suspect as “unfriendly”.
“In the mornings I would see him outside the house, but he usually ignored me when I tried to talk to him,” he said.
A check at the house showed that it was empty.
In Bandar Sungai Long, Kajang, people living near the other house that
was raided were reluctant to talk about the arrests of two men and
seizure of drugs.
The neighbours denied knowing the tenants of the house.
