KAJANG:
A retired primary school teacher who lived alone was killed during a robbery at
her home at Kampung Sungai Jai, Beranang.
Neighbour
Ahmad Zaini Kasmuri, 54, was shocked over the murder of Khalijah Abu Samah, 74,
whom he described as a warm and approachable woman.
Ahmad
Zaini had just returned home at about 10am yesterday when he saw a motorcycle
unusually parked outside Khalijah’s house.
“I
didn’t suspect anything at first and just drove past her place and headed to my
house (located behind the victim’s house).
“But
within minutes, I felt very uneasy and decided to check on her as I have always
done so for a few years,” he said.
When
Ahmad Zaini reached Khalijah’s house, the motorcycle was no longer there.
He
then entered the house and was horrified to find Khalijah lying face-down in a
pool of blood on the living room floor.
There
were pieces of shattered glass near the body and the house was completely
ransacked, he added.
Ahmad
Zaini said he and his wife had been visiting Khalijah every day.
Her
youngest son and his family from a nearby town occasionally visited her as
well, he added.
It
is learnt that Khalijah had three sons aged between 40 and 50.
Kajang
OCPD Abdul Rashid Wahab said initial investigations revealed that there were
two wounds to the back of her head caused by a sharp object.
“We
believe there’s only one suspect. There was no sign of forced entry,” he said,
adding that the victim’s jewellery was missing.
Police
have classified the case as murder.
