Kajang Fire and Rescue Department officer I, Hamzah Mohammad Shariff said after receiving a distress call at 7.20pm, the first fire engine was deployed to the scene immediately. "Six fire engines with 35 fire fighters from Semenyih, Bangi, Mantin and Kajang and assisted by a water tanker from Kuala Lumpur joined in the action to douse the fire. The fire was brought under control in an hour. "Also on hand to assist were eight volunteer fire fighters from Balakong and Hulu Langat," he told reporters when met at the scene. He said the fire was believed to have started from the mid section of the factory, measuring 8,000 sq metres, before spreading to other parts quickly.
