On Sundays when I manage to get up on time, I will follow my wife to the Sungai Chua market. She always insist buying food from wet markets as she believes it is fresher and better quality. Since young, I have always enjoyed walking around the market. There seems to be so many things to see, so many sellers peddling their goods and so good for people watching. However, it used to be much more exotic than now.
People going about their shopping |
The outdoor food sellers (for take away only) |
Lots of clothing articles and house wares to buy |
At the entrance of the dry goods section |
Also the outdoor food section |
The food court section, very busy |
Nice crunchy popiah, RM 1.90 each |
Very reasonably priced nasi lemak, not too bad also |
Another shot of the food court |
A lot of retirees at the food court. It's their daily ritual |
My favorite black sauced noodles but the seller lady has a killer look, very grumpy |
Yau char kuay with nescafe, heavenly |
So, it's actually very interesting to visit the market. There are so many varieties of things to see (apart from the meats, vegetables and fruits). There's also so many types of food and snacks. Most of all for me, it's best to see the place bustling with life and observing people going about with their chores. It makes you part of the community.
Until the next time, cheers.
