As I said in my earlier post, there are a number of slopes where no action have been taken. Politicians and others only seem to work with tragedy. Hope this time, something will be done. This article is from The Star, Friday, 3 June 2011.

“I’m worried about the slope’s condition but what can we do?”
The Star, Friday 3 June 2011
ZAHARAH Md Salleh, a resident of Taman Bukit Permai is disgusted with the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) for its statement at a recent residents’ meeting that the apartment is not gazetted under the municipal council.
She said the statement was unfounded because the residents’ assessment bills were issued by the council.
She said residents were living in fear because they felt threatened by the condition of the hill slope sandwiched between Taman Bukit Permai and Taman Bukit Kajang Baru.
“Do we need to wait for another tragedy and loss of lives before action is taken?” she asked.
Zaharah has been staying in the five-storey Blok RPS (Rumah Pangsa Sederhana) located on top of the hill since 2004.

In 2008, it was reported in StarMetro (MPKj acts fast to prevent landslide, Nov 15) that MPKj was going to apply for emergency funds from the Selangor government to build a retaining wall in Taman Bukit Kajang Baru as there was a high risk of a landslide in the area.
However, the cost to repair the slope has doubled from the RM1.3mil quoted two years ago to RM2.9mil (Slope repair costs escalate to RM2.9mil, Oct 10, StarMetro).
MCA publicity chief Datuk Yap Pian Hon urged the authorities to act fast as he said there were signs that the earth was sinking.
He said the signs included cracks on the ground and the tilting of the drains.“The state government should act fast and not pass the responsibility to the Federal government,” he said.
Until the next time, cheers.
