KAJANG: Three men were charged in a
magistrate's court here Friday with abducting a five-year-old boy to
obtain a ransom of RM300,000.
Labourer Riduansyah Yahya, 32, lorry driver Mohd Saifulamry Jarkasi,
28, and businessman Siow Kek Keong, 44, were accused of kidnapping the
boy by the roadside of Jalan Seroja next to a house in Taman Setia,
Sungai Chua here on Oct 9.
The trio were charged under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act.
No plea was recorded and no bail was offered.
Magistrate Abdul Jalil Salam Muhamad fixed Nov 21 for mention pending a report from the chemist.
S. Abirami was the deputy public prosecutor while lawyer Mohd Fadli
Yaakob acted for Saifulamry and Datuk Geethan Ram Vincent for Siow.
Recounting the kidnapping drama, Selangor police chief Comm Datuk
Abdul Samah Mat said about an hour and a half after the boy was
abducted, the victim’s father received a call from the alleged
kidnappers asking for RM300,000.
He said the ransom was paid at about 5pm the same day by the father
after he dropped the cash off near a shopping centre at Saujana Impian,
Kajang.
Three men were nabbed within 24 hours after the alleged kidnapping.
Police also recovered almost all of the RM300,000 ransom money that was
paid.
Taxi driver Hanizan Mohamed Radzi, who was arrested along with them, was released with a bond on Friday.
Hanizan said he found the boy wandering around the street after recognising the child from viral social media posts.
The boy was reunited with his family after going missing for eight hours. Police cleared Hanizan of any involvement.
