SELAMAT HARI MERDEKA

Happy 52nd birthday Malaysia! Wishing all Malaysians, Selamat Hari Merdeka. It is a ritual for me to get in the morning to at watch at least some parts of the national day parade. However, this year's parade is more subdued due to the H1N1 virus and it being the fasting month.

This year, we can also see less cars or establishments flying the flag. What could be the reason? Could it be the fasting month or due to the virus or heaven forbid, due to less patriotism?

Anyhow, I managed to capture some still doing the patriotic thing around Kajang. Good for you, mates.

My favorite tune during this time is still Sudirman's Tanggal 31....it never fails to make me feel proud of my country even though a lot of times, I feel let down by certain leaders of our country.

Until then, cheers.

NEW MOBILE PONDOK POLIS?

I have noticing that a few of these mobile pondok police have been erected in various areas around Kajang. These are also manned from time to time. I hope that the police are serious this time about combating the increased crime rate and not turn this into another joke or PR exercise only.

I also hope that with Dato Seri Idris Jala being appointed the new KPI Minister, one of this main task would be to bring down the crime rate quickly (I believe this was one of the KPI announced earlier).

Again, real reduction in crime rate which the man of the street can really feel, not just the window dressing numbers.

Anyhow, we all have to start somewhere......

Until then, cheers.

MISTY MORNING IN HULU LANGAT

I have been sending my son for special classes in preparation of his upcoming UPSR exam during this week although it is a school holidays. Nearby his school in Hulu Langat, I can't help looking at the mist covered hills. I can hardly see this anymore around Kajang or in Klang Valley for that matter. Anyway, it really reminded me of my childhood where such occurances were so normal. We had to ensure a lot of mist early in the morning when we were cycling to school.

On the way out, there was an accident near the Masterskill Nursing College involving a bus and a nursing student on a motorcycle. Luckily for her, I think it was not that serious. However, as usual, there were a lot of onlookers and traffic became horrendous with all the curiosity and KPC (kay poh chee for those not familiar....or busybody). On the other hand, it was also good that there were so many people who were willing to help the victim. Malaysia Boleh!!!

Well, until then, cheers.

OF RAIN AND RAMADHAN

It has been raining quite heavily in the last few days....not that anyone is complaining due to the hot water and haze before this. However, when it starts raining late in the afternoon and in the month of Ramadhan, the jams will be terrible. It will really be a test of patience for our Muslim brothers and sisters.

I took the following pictures on my way home to Kajang. It was taken just after the Serdang hospital. The roads were badly jammed and it took me more than 40 minutes using this stretch and the SILK highway when it normally would not have been more than 5 minutes.

Anyway, Selamat Berpuasa to all our Muslim friends.

Until next time, cheers.

Memories of kajang of old

I would like to invite any one who has old pictures of Kajang to share it with us and I will try also to provide present pictures of the place. I suppose many of you may not be living in Kajang anymore but still have fond memories of the town and hope by sharing it with all, we will be able to preserve these memories for the future.

Until next time, cheers.
