KUALA LUMPUR: Well-known composer and lyricist Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan died today at Selayang Hospital. He was 57.

Malaysian Artistes Association (Seniman) secretary-general, Hafiz Nafiah said Adnan died about 2.15am (Friday) from complications of several ailments.

"The association expresses its condolences to the family...may his soul be placed among the pious," he told Bernama.

The funeral prayers were held at Al-Falah Mosque in Sungai Ramal Dalam, Kajang before burial at the Tanah Perkuburan Islam Kariah Sungai Ramal Dalam, Kajang at 10am, Friday.

Adnan had written hit songs for artistes including Datuk Siti Nurhaliza (Jerat Percintaan).

Adnan received the 'Anugerah Wirama' at the 17th Music Industry Awards ceremony in 2010.

In KAJANG, Adnan's wife Rozinor Hafiza Mohd Fauzi, 38, said he seemed quieter after being admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit on Wednesday evening.

"He did not say anything until his last breath about 2.15am...if I woke him up, he would just shed tears," she recalled.

Rozinor married Adnan in 2009 and they have no children together. Adnan had three children from his previous marriage.

1Malaysia Artistes Foundation chairman Datuk DJ Dave said Adnan's passing was a great loss to the country's music industry.

DJ Dave said he was a talented composer and had written several hit ballads including 'Memori Cinta Luka' by Nassier Wahab and 'Bunga-Bunga Cinta' by Misha Omar.

"His passing was shocking because I just visited him yesterday at the hospital and he was in stable condition although he was unconscious," he said.
One of Adnan's proteges, famous singer Samihah Aisah Omar or better known as Misha Omar, described him as her second father who had helped her a lot during her early days in the entertainment scene about 15 years ago.

"My first single 'Bunga-Bunga Cinta' was composed by Adnan and I did not expect the song would bring good luck to my career," she said.

Another singer Mohd Nassier Abd Wahab or popularly known as Nassier Wahab, said Adnan was a very nice man to be working with.
