The Star, Thursday August 20, 2015

KAJANG: A mob chased and beat up a man and a teenager after they robbed a convenience store in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras.

In the incident, four robbers on two motorcycles arrived at the shop located along Jalan J-Avenue at 2.50am on Tuesday.

They threatened the cashier with a knife before robbing the shop of RM2,100 worth of cigarettes, alcohol and money.

A few men who were near the area saw the commotion and chased the suspects. Two of the robbers managed to escape on their motorcycle.

The other two robbers fled on foot. But they were caught at a football field about a kilometre away before they were beaten up.

District police chief Asst Comm Willey Richard said the public found six cigarette packs from the two suspects. They were later sent to a hospital for treatment.

In a separate case, a security guard was badly injured after two men slashed him with a parang in Semenyih.

ACP Willey said the guard was on duty at an office block when he was attacked at about 9.15am on Monday.

“They slashed his left arm with a parang. He was sent to the hospital and his manager lodged a police report,” he added.

He said the guard claimed that he did not know the identities of his assailants.
