Man faces rape charges over sex with mentally disabled woman

The Star, Tuesday April 14, 2015

KAJANG: A married man faces rape charges after he was alleged to have had sex with a mentally challenged woman 20 years his junior, since 2013.

The parents of the 22-year-old woman found the man cowering behind her bedroom door and turned him in to the police on Friday.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rashid Abdul Wahab said the 42-year-old suspect reportedly met his victim in an online chatroom in 2013 and coaxed her into having a sexual relationship with her.

The woman, who suffers from a mental illness, would text the man every time her parents left their Cheras house and he would come over for a tryst in her bedroom.

ACP Abdul Rashid said the parents left the house for lunch at about 1.30pm on April 10 and returned two-hours later to find the man trying to hide behind the door in their daughter’s room.

“The mother asked her daughter what the man was doing in the house and she replied that he came to ‘raba-raba’ (grope) her,” he said.

The parents then turned the red faced man over to the police.

A check by doctors confirmed that the victim had been sexually active for some time.

“We are investigating the case as rape as the man had taken advantage of the woman who may not understand what they were doing due to her mental illness,” he said.

In another case, a worried father who reported his daughter missing last Wednesday was shocked to find the 13-year-old girl happily gallivanting in a shopping mall over the weekend.

The girl had run away from home and had been staying with her boyfriend of a few months in a Kajang hotel.

ACP Abdul Rashid said the girl went missing on April 8 after she failed to return home after attending tuition class.
