Mother and four kids killed in crash at Kajang-Banting road

The Star, Tuesday September 10, 2013

KAJANG: A mother and her four children were killed in a horrific accident between her car and a lorry near the 8th kilometre Kajang-Banting road.

At around 11.45am yesterday, religious teacher Rohaya Md Rabi, 35, was driving her Perodua Kancil from Bangi towards Kajang when it collided head-on with the lorry.

A van travelling behind the lorry crashed into it following the first collision but its driver escaped unharmed.

Rohaya and three of her children, Nor Nabila Al Huda, nine, Nor Nabila Al Hana, seven, and Mohd Nabil Loffi Al Hadi, one, were killed instantly, while another son, Muhammad Nabil Luftan Al Hadi, three, succumbed to injuries at the Kajang Hospital in the evening.

The lorry driver was taken to the Kajang Hospital for medical treatment.

Rohaya’s younger brother Abdullah Md Rabi, 28, said that he could not come to terms with the loss of his sister, nephews and nieces.

“I just met her at her house at Taman Impian Putra, Kajang, on Sunday afternoon but now she is gone,” he said.

Abdullah, who described his sister as a cautious and courteous driver, said he could not understand how the accident could have occurred.

“My brother-in-law, who is also a religious teacher, is in the midst of making arrangements for the funeral.

“I cannot imagine the pain he is going through,” he said.

Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Rashid Abdul Wahab said that the case was being investigated as reckless driving under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
