Passers-by come to aid of attacked GrabCar driver

KAJANG: Passers-by came to the aid of a GrabCar driver after he was assaulted by two of his “passengers” in a botched robbery at about 1am this Tuesday.
The 27-year-old driver was dropping off the two men at Taman Sri Jelok, Kajang, when they attempted to rob him.
Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Othman Nanyan said the duo - with 10 previous criminal records between them - had hired the driver to take them from Ampang to Kajang.
“They caused injuries to the driver’s face and head while attempting to rob him. They were nabbed by passers-by and handed over to the police,” he explained
ACP Othman said the driver was warded in Hospital Kajang for injuries to his forehead, right cheek, arm and hand. The two 39-year-old men will be remanded until Aug 15 to facilitate investigations.The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing a robbery.
