MPKj adds RM4mil for infrastructure and flood mitigation

Ah...he is saying the right thing but will the actual enforcement be there? A friend of mine stays at Taman Seri Langat and there is always a potential threat to flood as the river is just behind his house. However, we have seen lots of excavating going on but as said by the council president, enforcement must be done against blatant development that causes huge amount of soil and mud flowing into the river.

Well at least, it is a start.

Until the next time, cheers.

MPKj adds RM4mil for infrastructure and flood mitigation

THE Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) will allocate an extra RM3mil for improving infrastructure and RM1mil for flood mitigation in next year’s budget.

Its president, Datuk Hassan Nawawi Abdul Rahman, said in this year’s budget, RM2mil was allocated for maintenance and upgrading of infrastructure.

“With new development projects, we foresee generating RM80mil from assessment taxes, compared with RM76mil this year,” he said.

He said the council had achieved a balanced budget this year at RM154.5mil.

“We will have stricter enforcement, especially against illegal development projects and house owners carrying out illegal renovations.

Hassan said another way to generate revenue was via billboards,

“There will be seven new billboards at the Kajang Stadium. There are 270 billboards in Kajang, 20 of which are on private land. We hope to generate RM1mil from billboards,” he said.
